Veganz Opening Location in Portland, Ore.
German vegan supermarket chain coming to the U.S.
Veganz, the world’s first and largest vegan supermarket chains, is opening its first U.S. location in Portland, Ore. Veganz also plans a shoe/clothing store and restaurant in the city.
The chain was founded in Berlin, Germany, in 2011 by Jan Bredack, former Mercedes-Benz manager, himself a vegan who found it hard to find food in Germany. The stores currently source products from 30 countries, including 45 varieties of plant milk and cream; meat and fish subsitutes; vegan ice cream, cheese and sweets; as well as cosmetics and toiletries.
More than 10 locations are operating throughout Europe, with another location opening in the United Kingdom.
