A Food Scale That Preps for Health

ipad-and-app-whitebgThere are so many Williams Sonoma products that I long for in my kitchen because of their classic aesthetic. The Orange Chef Prep Pad, however, is all about functionality. It does have an attractive design, but it works to keep you educated about your food above all else.
The Prep Pad connects to an app, Countertop, for your iPad that tracks in unpackaged food what a nutrition label does in processed food. Want to know how much fat a handful of almonds have? Put it on the physical pad and type “almonds” into the Countertop. The Prep Pad weighs the food and the app charts the proteins, fat, etc. in a personalized layout.
People can set goals on the Prep Pad app that show up every time they weigh an item, comparing its nutritional value with that you set. This is an awesome way for people like me, who are always low on iron, to make sure they are getting their daily intake of necessary vitamins. For those trying to shed a few pounds, the Prep Pad can help them stick to their goals without the obligation of a diet plan, focusing on health more than waistline. It can also be a teaching tool for children as it familiarizes them with what their food is made of.
The Prep Pad and Countertop app are great for the home chef who needs to be flexible; together they can be used to adjust recipes according to ingredient. The scale can be used with packaged food, raw food, and foods that require containers. Plus, you can program your favorite foods and meals for a quick evaluation of what you love to eat.
