KeHE Opens Colorado Distribution Center
17th DC to support geographically diverse customers
KeHE Distributors has opened its 17th distribution center, in Aurora, Colo., the first in the state. The state-of-the-art,270,000-square-foot facility is the latest step in the Naperville, Ill.-based distributor’s “journey as a Certified B Corp and as a trusted supplier to our customers,” according to Brandon Barnholt, president and CEO.
"Our new site demonstrates our commitment to serving a geographically diverse customer base and employing innovative practices and sustainability measures that enhance our operations," he added.
The new facility is LEED Gold certified, featuring energy-efficient water heaters and HVAC, skylights and lighting controls. Other efficiency features include LED lighting, recycled packaging material and software devices to monitor electric use. The DC also houses 80,000 square feet of freezer and cooler space to support an increasing range of fresh perimeter products to meet market demand.
Opening festivities on Sept. 1 included a “pick & pack,” in which volunteers packed 1,000 boxes to benefit Children’s Hunger Fund and Food Bank of the Rockies.
