Chick-fil-A's much-anticipated Manhattan location is opening on Saturday, October 3, and the chain plans on honoring the most die-hard Chick-fil-A zealots out there.
The First 100 Campout will give 100 people the opportunity to win free Chick-fil-A for a year (52 meals), according to a release.
On Friday, October 2, beginning at 5:30, fans who live in eligible zip codes will line up outside the new location in Manhattan's midtown district on 6th Avenue between 37th and 38th street.
At 6 p.m., a drawing will select who the "First 100" will be — those lucky 100 will get to dine on Chick-fil-A's dollar for a year.
But there's a catch: they will have to camp out until the store opens its doors.
At 8 p.m., the First 100 will receive a Chick-fil-A dinner, and at 9 p.m. they'll get a yet-to-be-disclosed surprise. They will watch a movie at 10:30.
There's a wakeup call at 5:00 a.m. the next day, followed by a ceremony awarding the 100 winners at 6 a.m.
Chick-fil-A anticipates a massive turnout for its grand opening, and this is just one way to ramp up even more excitement.
It's not surprising; the chain was named the most-loved restaurant by the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s 2015 Restaurant Survey this summer.
But despite its popularity, the chain still faces some backlash for its controversial stance on gay marriage. Even though Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy apologized for his homophobic comments in an interview with with USA Today, Denver questioned allowing Chick-fil-A to set up shop because of its anti-gay history, Huffington Post reported.
