Kroger has partnered with Godiva Chocolatier to open a chocolate shop inside an Ann Arbor store.
A grand opening is planned for Sept. 4 for a Godiva shop inside the Kroger store in the Westgate shopping center at 400 S. Maple Road.
GROCERY03A Godiva chocolate shop will open in the Kroger store on South Maple Road in Ann Arbor.

“The Kroger store in the Westgate Center will be the first in the Enterprise to have a Godiva Shop within the store,” said Ken McClure, consumer communications manager for Kroger’s Michigan division, in an email. “This location will provide our customers with the ultimate chocolate experience.”
McClure said the store will feature a full-service chocolate case with fresh-dipped items. Patrons can also shop a full line of boxed chocolates.
Kroger is hiring a store manager for the shop, who would be responsible for overseeing and driving daily sales performance, according to an online job posting.
The Godiva shop is opening at Kroger about one year after Chase Bank closed its branch inside the store to consolidate with the existing Chase location at 2475 W. Stadium Blvd.
There is a Godiva shop at Ann Arbor’s Briarwood Mall. The company, founded in 1926, operates more than 450 retail shops.
In addition to the store on Maple Road, Ohio-based Kroger has local stores on Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor, East Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti Township, Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township, Whittaker Road in Ypsilanti Township and West Main Street in Milan. A store on Packard Street in the Georgetown Mall closed in 2009 and a store on South Industrial Highway in Ann Arbor closed in June to make way for a Lucky’s Market.
